  • Spring is here.........

Well Friday night was very quiet as Mj and i just watched the film "in persuit of happiness" with Will Smith. It was very depressing and i normally like Will Smith films. The film was all about the bad things that had happend to him and his son and when he did finally get some good luck they didnt show it,they just wrote it on the screen. Very disapointed! I woke at six on saturday morning which is not like me at all. After lying there for a while i managed to wake again at ten and washing up and two loads of washing later we went into town. We had the most beautiful day yesterday with unbroken sunshine all day.I think spring is finally here. I went to look at material for my wedding dress (my mum is making it) while Mj chatted to a friend. Mj and i are going to get a sword to cut our wedding cake so we went into a shop in town where we can get one and they had some nice ones but we will wait and see later on in the summer. We went through the market which i love. Its a real farmers market with fresh eggs, organic veg, fish caught that day, hand made bread and the most amazing hand crafted clothes and gifts. There is a cheese shop aswell and i LOVE cheese! We popped into see our friend Fiona in her shop and after a little catch up we went back to the car. We drove all the way along the sea front and passed our wedding hotel (which i always love to see) and there were 100's of people out walking the prom in the sunshine. We got home and made plans to go down to Silver Strand (beach) in about an hour but i changed my mind as im still not feeling 100% after last weekend and have a bit of an ear infection which is making me dizzy. Mj went to work about nine and i went to bed. The clocks went forward last night so Mj arrived home at 5:30 am but realy 6:30 am. He works very hard. We are off to his parents for dinner today and then down to silver strand finally! The weather is hazy but sunny today and very warm again.

  • Light at the end of the tunnel............

We recieved the life insurance letter yesterday and Mj went strait down to the mortgage lady to hand it over. She gave him back ANOTHER form to fill in!!! So i have come home tonight and signed the form to be taken back tomorrow and then they should send the letter to issue the cheque.
Im starting to get a little excited and buying a corner sofa (that does not fit in the corner), an oak kitchen, a king size natural oak bed, a bathroom suite. Its a good job its all in my head haha! I find myself picking out colours for rooms and looking in housey magazines at furniture but even now its still seems so far away.

  • News at last..............

Well Mj got a call from the life insurance people today and thay said that i had been accepted but Mj has been postponed for 12 months. We were not sure what this meant so Mj rang the lady at the mortgage place and we waited for her to say "im sorry but with out you both having life insurance we cannot give you the mortgage im afraid!" but she didnt !!! She said "oh thats fine as soon as you recieve the letter off them drop it into me and we can send all your paper work to Dublin. Then they will issue your cheque." The longer this process has gone on the less excited we get about this kind of news. There is normally a BUT ant the end of every sentence that we get excited about.
To put this into perspective for those of you who dont know us, we were hoping to be living in our new house by christmas 2006.
I just realy hope now that they do issue the cheque soon as we might not be in by the time we get married!

  • The reason for it all...............

Mj and i have both been working different hours for a while now,me on days and mj on most nights so every moment we spend together is nice. It has been very tough for the last year trying to sort out the planning permission and we thought the mortgage would be the easy bit! How wrong could we be haha! It has been realy hard to think about anything else and as the weeks go on its getting worse so today Mj and i went to a place to remember where we will be at the end of the year...... the Claddagh Church where we are getting married. We walked down the isle together which was weird but more so i could see if my dad and my dress could fit haha! Then we just sat at the front and thought about where everyone would be seated and where Frank would be singing and where we would be standing. There was no one else there so as we walked back up the isle i started humming the song were walking out to and we both laughed.
"we work to live not live to work"

  • Bank holiday .........

Well its bank holiday monday here in Ireland and the sun is shining and i can see the sea from the window and it makes me realise i wouldnt want to live anywhere but Ireland. Mj worked all night last night (taxi driver for people who dont know us) and arrived home at 4:30 am. I am feeling much better today,a little dizzy and still a bit of a sore throat but back to work tomorrow. Why cant i be sick in work time haha! To make up for our disaster of a St Patricks day weekend Mj and i descided to go out for lunch, just the two of us. We love spending time together and there is never much of that at the moment. We even have two guest lists for our wedding as we never find time to share the sofa and put them together hehe!:DD

Well it was happy for everyone we know but on friday i got realy ill. St Patricks day over here is bigger than christmas and is a chance for one of our many bank holidays. Friday night i had a temperature of 104 and i couldnt seem to get it down and my throat felt like i had swallowed a football! Mj was at work and getting very excited about our day out the next day. But as the night went on i was feeling worse and dedided not to go out. Mj had a trip to Shannon airport on Paddy's day morning and when he got home we both decided to stay in. Mj had a few beers and i had a few lemsips and its the first time Mj has not been out for St Patricks day.

  • Any one know of a caravan for sale.............

I cant believe we are still waiting!!! I had a call from the doctors on monday wanting further information on medical conditions and lucky for us i had picked up my medical records over the weekend in England. Mj spent the day on tuesday faxing them all over to the chief medical officer at the cost of 11 euro and most of the day on the phone to the life insurance people and the doctors. We were told to call the following day as we were an urgent case, so we did. The nice man on the phone told us that it was all still with the underwriters and they had lots of urgent cases! LOTS! why didnt they say that yesterday! So now it is thursday and guess what??? they need more information on Mj this time!!! Why couldnt they have read both our medical historys at the same time! So as it stands now, after another day on the phone for Mj,they contacted his doctor and he has sent out the information.............. to the wrong person!!!!! We have another three days to wait now and we should hear if the insurance for us will be accepted.Thats three working days and its a bank holiday weekend for us!
Ok ranting over and sorry for all the !!!!!

On the up side of things Barney (Mjs friend and groomsman to be) arrived back from Australia today after two years away. :)

  • Dum de dum de dum........................

Well its monday morning and the view from our apartment is stunning. The sun is out,the sea is rough and you make out all the fields on the Clare hills. We will both realy miss this view when we have to move out.
On the subject of moving out we still havent heard anything about our first stage payment cheque, were starting to wonder if applying for this mortgage was a dream haha!

  • Still waiting.........

Well our paperwork for the mortgage has taken a detour to Dublin when it should have been sent to the Galway branch! All we need after that arrives back is word back from the life insurance people and we should have that 1st cheque. It will probley arrive when we are in England later this week haha!

  • Welcome to our blog!

Well let's start from the begining..........

Mj and i met four and a half years ago on holiday in Lanzarote. I was manager for a card shop and Mj was a bouncer and once a year, for one night only he was lead singer for a Thin Lizzy tribute band! So we kept intouch just once a year for the gig then on a freezing january night we finally got together! That was 9th january 2005 and on 27th april 2005 mj and i left Solihull,Birmingham for Galway,Ireland. Yes it only took three and a half months to realise we were made for each other! So....... we have just celebrated two years together and we are still living in our apartment and we are still as happy as the 1st day we got together.
I should stop babbling now and tell you why were doing this blog.........
After a year of stress and tears in november 2006 we finally got planning permission to build a house in Claregalway at the back of Mj's home house and ever since we have been going through the emotions of getting the mortgage. As it stands now we are waiting for the first stage payment cheque to come through and thought we would blog the house build from here. To make things even more exciting were getting married on the 1st December so we have 6 months to build a house and 9 months to plan a wedding!
We hope that all our family and friends old and new will join us in this journey.

    Helen and Mj
